We learnt on 25 July that @hellofrmsg had been suspended by Twitter. We had not been given any prior warning or received any message from Twitter – it was okay one day and gone the next.
However, it seems very unlikely that this was due to a shutdown by the Singapore government. We don’t know for sure, but the most likely explanation would be that someone submitted a bogus spam report to Twitter which caused our account to be automatically shut down.
@WeAreAustralia, Australia’s rotation curation account, is also down at the moment. A little more than a month ago, Pakistan’s account @IAm_Pakistan had also been suspended, but reinstated 10 days later after protest from the online community.
The organiser behind TweetWeekUSA is kindly helping us to reach out to the rest of the rotation curation projects around the world to get people to signthis petition for both @WeAreAustralia and @hellofrmsg to get the account back. With everyone’s support we hope to be able to get Twitter’s attention and be reinstated ASAP!
