Hello from Singapore

a rotation curation project on twitter

About Us Be a curator! Ask Then Ask Lor!
Hi people!

I’m Joyce and you can find me on twitter at @appleseed. I got to know @hellofrmsg after the account suspension saga which flooded my twitter feed. After a couple of very interesting curators, I thought it would be fun to experience curating so I emailed admin and here I am! This account is awesome. Twitter has never been more interesting!

I’m a full-time working adult at a grand young age of 27 yrs old. I also find that I have too much cash and time (ok I’m kidding!) so I also happen to be a part-time student. What I study and what I do is very closely related, and it involves tons of jargon and reading of fine print. Will divulge more (and hopefully educate) in the coming week!

Hobbies include reading, cycling and exploring park connectors, staring at clouds, travelling, going to the movies, searching for new apps to make my phone invincible, and perhaps stalking twitter :D Oh, I’m also a super, duper, ultra One Piece (Japanese manga/anime) fan.

This week is turning out to be quite crazy with curating, work and 4 days worth of classes but the fun and interaction will be worth it!

Love,
Joyce

Yo everyone. I am Sarah of the Seriously Sarah . You might also find me on twitter at @sarahcoldheart . If are in the “geekdom” of Singapore, chances are you’ll eventually meet or see me at the events since either a) Singapore is small or b) I really go everywhere. I like to go on adventures and had a series called Sarah Does Singapore on my blog proving that yes, Singapore is not that boring if you do get out and find out for yourself. Nowadays it’s just called Random Encounters but its the same thing. An adventure can be any little thing that I have not tried out or I’m curious to know more about.I know what I like but I explore or try out new things to see what else I do like and be good in. Plus, it’s my “research” when I write my books. Oh yes, I am writer of fantasy (ask me about Bubble.G.U.M or The Steampowered Globe!) and am one of the municipal liaisons of Nanowrimo in Singapore.Ok I lie. It’s not just for research, I just like to have fun.Um, um. MORE ABOUT ME? I play the ukulele, do cosplay, read comics/manga, be on tumblr with the fandoms, have a cat akaDawn. While I am Seriously Sarah it’s more like others will say “Seriously Sarah?!” .Oh yes, seriously.Ps. Stuff just happens around me, so we’ll see if anything happens during my run of curatorship!

Hi everyone I’m Farhan and you can find me tweeting at @frhn

I loved the idea of Rotation Curation since I first read about @sweden and wrote in to be a curator of this project sometime in July. I got sprung the surprise of taking over the account a few hours before the handover and have been winging it with much success so far.

I freed myself from the chains of the educations system in 2011 and have started my career in a public relations agency where I manage the reputations of companies for a living. I may be new at it but i’m still pretty kickass at it (or at least I like to think I am).

In my free time, i’m usually lurking around the Internet, reading up on technology, social media or out taking photos of life in the streets of Singapore.

Stalk me on various other networks here: www.about.me/frhn

Hi all! I’m Crystal (@crystalgeek78) and I write both at my own blog (expatbostonians.com) and am a contributor for the blog of SG diaper/formula/etc delivery company “White As Milk” (http://www.whiteasmilk.com/blog/ ). I will be traveling back to Singapore during the first 24 hours of my curation week, so while I hope to schedule some tweets, it may also be sporadic during that time. Don’t worry—I’ll make up for it!

I’m an American Expat. I’ve been in Singapore for just over 2.5 years. I’m a stay at home mom to Ellie (who is finishing up N2 this week) and Rhiannon (who will turn 14 months this week).

This week I’ll be talking about my experiences with having a child in N2/moving onto K1 (and trying to think about K2/P1). I know I’m the 2nd or 3rd parent, but I think I might be the first with a school aged child. Unexpectedly (and unfortunately) I’ll also be tweeting about replacing all my ID after losing my purse on vacation.

Hi everyone! I’m @Jac_theocctrav - that’s Jac The Occasional Traveller, which is what I am though I hope that changes to ‘frequent’ in future. Obviously, travel is my top passion, and I’m likely to talk about various aspects of that throughout my stint - I’m very curious to see what Singaporeans and everyone else feels about travel. Other things I love include diving, TV, craft, reading, netball, chocolate… expect random tangents on whatever comes to mind here.

You can find more of me and my travel stories/inspirations on my site at theoccasionaltraveller.com where I hope my own journeys. Also since it’s Christmas, do check out theoccasionaltraveller.bigcartel.com as well where I curate travel-inspired and travel-related items that make great gifts for the travel buff.

Hi everyone. My name is Kay from @kayspace.
Born & bred in Singapore, I fled some six years ago to London where I worked in advertising and have returned recently where I work in branding where I work alongside totally awesome people and brains!
I don’t have a set agenda for this week. Maybe a pattern will emerge. I guess it’ll be ‘slice of life’ tweets from the POV of someone who’s always felt out of place in Singapore and is back for now. Hmm. Maybe that’s the agenda.
I love cooking & baking & food - brunch is my fave meal of the day. Bacon & eggs are a pre-req; I don’t understand eating noodles (fried or otherwise) for brekkie. I’m a total techie (big Apple fan way back when it was still OS9) and a big Trekkie (TNG, make it so). The 60s is my fave era and I revel in Mod culture of London and New York. I also am a photographer and I do lifestyle and food!
Live long and prosper.

Hallo! Here’s my bio. Let me know if the image is good enough:
Sup folks. Name’s Jun Shen, or Junch.
I’m Malaysian. Hah! So I’m one of them foreign talents stealing all the jobs and taking all your women. Kidding, I’m a nice guy, and I love this place. Spent 9 years of my growing up here, so yeah, it’s practically home. Besides I don’t want to go back across the border, you can’t make me!
What do I do? I’m a writer, photographer, and occasional filmmaker. I’m seeking publication for some stuff I’ve been working on, I’ve held one photo exhibition, and I’ve made a few short films that no one will ever see. So yeah, I’m the thing I hate being the most - hipster.
As for what I do to earn a living, I make up stuff to convince other people to part with their money for products. As unscrupulous as that sounds, I really enjoy marketing.
I love a shitload of things which you’ll come to learn over the next week. Film, music, video games, philosophy, love, sex, people, travel, whatever man. I also do a lot of random thinking which you’ll be privy to as well.
Alright, kiddos! Time to get to it.
PS. If you want to read my various blogs, I write about games and other shit here. I write about photography here. You can look at my photographs here. And I write about writing here.

[Admin note: Apologies for the long delay in putting this bio up— my bad!]

Hello, my name is June/@mizhalle, nice to meet you all. I’m one of the co-managers of this project, along with Kirsten whom you’ve met earlier. Now it’s my turn!
By day, I am an online-journalist-person for a major local newspaper; by night (or by the slivers that exist between work and sleep) I am a writer and editor of speculative short fiction. Despite my schooldays failures at Chinese I picked up an addiction to learning languages in university, starting with Croatian. I switched to Japanese not long after I began working, and currently I’m learning the Russian language (albeit very slowly).
I started my career as a research scientist, before switching to the creative industries (animation, comics, games - I’ve worked in one studio of each kind). Now I work in a newsroom. None of this was planned, because I’m quite sure I didn’t step out of my graduation ceremony proclaiming “I shall now switch jobs five times in the next six years!!” …
I don’t actually have a plan for the week. I’m splitting my time between playing tour guide to my friend visiting from Thailand, and hanging out at the Singapore Writers’ Festival, so you’ll probably see some of that. I co-edited a book of super-short Singaporean speculative fiction that’s out this week - The Ayam Curtain - so maybe I’ll talk a little about that as well.

Hello there! I’m @tinybikegirl. I’m secretly a superhero-in-training, that’s why you won’t be seeing my face in this picture! Well, that’s what I like to think anyway. I’m trying to figure out how to save the world, one small piece at a time. It’s not quite there yet but I hope to eventually do it through my crazy love for endurance sports, reading and adventure.

Hello! I’m @chewlink! For most part I use Twitter as an extension of my reader feed, so when I’m not stalking my IRL friends I’m retweeting—I really enjoy @brainpicker. I sometimes tweet about @blinkbl-nk, a monthly talk event that I organize with @bedsty and our ringleader, @sonofsarah.
I like using the Internets to collect recipes, but since I haven’t cooked for a long time it’s been depressing to see a long list of unexperimented-on recipes. My reading list is equally long—time to prune and let go! I’m always keen on recommendations for good eats though!
Coming up this week will be some National Hobbies (TM), and I suspect, a heck load of Gardens by the Bay. Come say hi if you see a wild-haired woman flailing about there!
